BPTMN Community Engagement: BPTMN Community Engagement April 2026

The April schedule is heavily focused on Earth Day celebrations and the City Nature Challenge.

  • Earth Day & Community Festivals:
    • April 11: Virginia Parklands Neighborhood Earth Day Celebration (McKinney) and EarthFest 2026 “Little Makers, Big Planet” (Allen).
    • April 15: Earth Day at Collin College (Frisco).
    • April 16: STEAM Night at Furr Elementary School (Prosper).
  • City Nature Challenge (BioBlitz Events): 2026 iNaturalist City Nature Challenge April 24-27
    • April 24–27: Various BioBlitz events across Frisco, Plano, and McKinney using iNaturalist. – 2026 iNaturalist City Nature Challenge April 24-27
    • April 25: BioBlitz with the Blackland Prairie Raptor Center (Lucas) and an evening Mothing Event at Frisco Commons Park.
    • April 26: Guided BioBlitz and an evening Mothing Event at the Heard Museum (McKinney).(fee & registration required)

    • May 30: BPRC “Night on the Prairie” (Lucas). – Night on the Prairie
  • Specialized Outreach (Mothing):
    • May 8: Mothing Event at Erwin Park (McKinney) featuring Sam Kieschnick.
      Ain’t no Party like a Moth Night Party with Sam Kieschnick, Urban Wildlife Biologist in McKinney!
