Dear friends,
We’re thrilled to announce that H-E-B is teaming up with the Texas Master Naturalist (TMN) Program to launch the “Pollinators for Texas” program, aimed at supporting native pollinators that sustain our ecosystems!
Pollinators, including bees, butterflies, birds, bats, and more, play an essential role in maintaining biodiversity. In Texas, they are crucial for the pollination of local flora and contribute significantly to our agricultural production.
H-E-B is proud to provide $50,000 to the TMN Program, allowing TMN chapters across the state to apply for micro-funding of up to $3,000 for pollinator conservation projects. These funds will support community-based projects that enhance native pollinator populations and their habitats.
“We are excited to protect the health of native pollinators through this partnership,” said Anahi Villarruel, H-E-B Environmental Affairs Project Manager.
The “Pollinators for Texas” program will have a tangible impact on local communities by creating and restoring pollinator-friendly habitats, such as native plant gardens in public spaces. This program also aims to encourage educational outreach and engaging the public in conservation efforts. “Pollinators for Texas” represents a significant step forward in pollinator conservation, it is the TMN Program and H-E-B’s goal that this partnership will create lasting impacts within Texas communities.
Applications for the grant will open on the website from October 15th through November 30th, 2024, for TMN chapters. Full details, including the application, eligibility requirements, and application instructions, will be available on the Pollinators for Texas website. A webinar and additional resources will also be provided to assist interested TMN chapters.
Stay tuned for more updates and thank you for supporting our efforts to enhance and protect Texas’s precious pollinator populations!
