Our Tribe’s Fortune 1,000 Hours – Judy Rowe

04/01/2023 by mconnally

Judy Rowe, 2007

“I hope that now that I am "retired", I can add volunteer hours more quickly!” - Judy

I am class of 2007, and I mostly volunteer at the Heard Museum. I love introducing children especially, to the natural world around them. I never get tired of the excitement they show as they discover something brand new they haven’t noticed before.

I found out about the Texas Master Naturalist program shortly after moving to Texas from Missouri. I was working part-time at the Wild Bird Center in Plano, and a co-worker suggested I check out the newly formed Blackland Prairie chapter. I checked it out, and was hooked! What a perfect way to find out about my new home and the natural places around me! I felt welcomed right away, and connected with others who shared similar interests. Still do, and that’s why I stay!
