City Nature Challenge at SCNP

May 3, 2022 by Terri Hurley

The flora and fauna of Seabourne Creek Nature Park helped the Houston-Galveston Team win most species observed in the USA during iNaturalist’s 2022 City Nature Challenge! Check out the results here:

Participating in this year’s challenge at Seabourne included Girl Scout Troop 157157 from Sugar Land. On April 30, nine girl scouts toured Seabourne’s four habitats and posted observations of plants and insects to iNaturalist. Leading the tour were several members of the Texas Master Naturalist™ Coastal Prairie Chapter.

Later on that weekend, several other master naturalists participated in the challenge at Seabourne by adding their own observations. They hiked the entire park and added many sightings.

Four master naturalists at Seabourne participating in the City Nature Challenge!
