Texas Master Natural Coastal Prairie Chapter member Joyce A. Tipton is showing her bird photography at Monterroso Gallery in Houston. She will discuss her art at a gallery event on June 23, starting at 11 a.m. TMNCPC has many talented photographers. Tipton would be delighted to see chapter members and other supporters at the gallery.
Monterroso Gallery, 1824 Spring St., Unit 104, hosts rotating exhibitions from local artists. Tipton’s photos are on display in a show entitled “Chasing Connections” along with work by multimedia artist Jonathan P. Jackson. The show was curated by Rosa Ana Orlando. People also can visit the exhibit on Saturday afternoons through July 24.
The “Artists Talk” is scheduled for 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 23, with Orlando, Tipton, and Jackson. If interested, the gallery’s invitation contains details, including an RSVP button. The RSVP is available, but it’s not required.
“I capture photographic images because it brings me joy,” Tipton says. “Beauty becomes more tangible when I can return to moments through permanent images.”
She reflects on the similarity of challenges facing birds to those of humans, “from interpersonal disputes to the catastrophic impacts of climate change.” Tipton notes that birds “are essential elements of healthy ecosystems.”
