SCNP birders add American Wigeon to list

The Seabourne Creek Nature Park monthly Bird Walk, hosted by the Texas Master Naturalist Coastal Prairie Chapter, reported 55 species on March 3, including an American Wigeon, Purple Martins, and a Harris’s Sparrow.

The ebird list from March is available online. The next bird walk at Seabourne in Rosenberg is scheduled for Wednesday, April 7, at 8 a.m. Bird walks are scheduled as permitted under COVID safety restrictions.

TMNCPC members Bob and Carol Schwartz noted TMNCPC member Garrett Engelhardt alerted the chapter’s birders to watch for the wigeon after Engelhardt  spotted it on Seabourne Lake in early February.

Bob and Carol Schwartz also said the American Wigeon was a new species for Seabourne, bringing the total species for the park to 206.
