Seabourne Creek Nature Park features new garden signs

September 7, 2020 by pmdittrick

Text by Lynn Trenta, SCNP habitat garden coordinator. Photos by Jerry Trenta, SCNP director. (For full article see Coastal Prairie Chapter Courier, Sept. 1, 2020, p. 14.) Condensed into blog by Paula Dittrick, TMNCPC blogmaster.

Visitors to Seabourne Creek Nature Park (SCNP) in Rosenberg will find four new signs in the prairie and habitat garden and also a new pocket prairie pamphlet.

Lynn Trenta, SCNP habitat garden coordinator, and Jerry Trenta, SCNP director, developed the signs. Both are Texas Master Naturalist Coastal Prairie Chapter members.

In addition, the two of them along with Shannon Westveer, TMNCPC 2020 new class co-director (spring), developed a new pocket prairie pamphlet.

TMNCPC members, including John Donaho, Lynn Trenta, Jerry Trenta, Jade Hems, and Wayne Poorman, contributed photos for use on the signs. Some photos came from the US Forest Service and some came from Texas Parks and Wildlife.

Jerry Trenta prints the graphics on plastic paper and attaches them to recycled realtor signs. Lynn Trenta said the habitat garden and prairie sign project started about 4 years ago, and the signs last for about 2 years.
