Master Volunteer Entomology Training – AT
September 29, 2022 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
$120.00Over the course of 8 weeks and 30+ instructional hours (August 30, 2022 through October 27, 2022), attendees will gain a better understanding of entomology, integrated pest management, and how to identify common insects, spiders, and arthropods in Texas. Also covered in this training: iNaturalist, Butterfly gardening and native pollinators, Invasive insects to watch for in Texas, Medical entomology and using dichotomous keys for identification. Cost $120.00.
Optional Opportunities
There will be opportunities to learn how to collect insects and other arthropods during class. We will also cover curation: pinning, pointing, spreading wings, preservation, etc. This part of the course is OPTIONAL. There is allotted time for sessions to teach about collecting equipment, methods, and curation if you choose to participate. If you decide to participate in collecting and curation, it will be done on your own. You will be responsible for purchasing your own supplies for collecting and curation. We are still trying to find reliable sources for these materials as the business that we typically purchased from closed earlier this year.
