Bioreactor Compost Analysis & Application (1) – AT

April 4 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

The Clear Creek Bioreactors built in April last year have reduced leaves into bio-complete compost. Using microscopes, Jane Duke will instruct you to do the analysis of the bioreactor compost and Clear Creek soil. Then she will create a compost extract and compost tea which we will spray on the Clear Creek soil to evaluate the effect of the compost on the regeneration of the soil (over time). There are 2 bioreactors.

There are 2 AT classes. You can sign up for either one or both.

On Friday 4/4 10am we will evaluate the Johnson-Su process, open the bio-reactors, analyze the compost using microscopes and then sift the compost and start the 24-hr brew of compost tea.

On Saturday 4/5 10am we will do microscopic analysis of the compost tea and Clear Creek soil where we intend to innoculate. We will make compost extract and then apply all the bio-amendments to different areas of the Clear Creek plot to determine the regeneration of the soil over time.
