Presentation Title: Prairie Seekers Training: Learning in Nature’s Classroom
Presentation Summary: The presentation describes the evolution of the Prairie Seekers program from a survey driven exercise to an immersive learning experience in the field. It provides an overview of the topics covered in the training and serves as a template for implementation of field training in a variety of ecological settings.
Speaker’s Name: Kate Morgan
Brief Bio: Kate Morgan is a retired experimental physicist, a 6th generation Texan, the President of the Fort Worth Chapter of NPAT (Native Prairies Association of Texas), a member of the North Central Chapter of NPSOT (Native Plant Society of Texas) and also a member of the Cross Timbers Chapter of Texas Master Naturalists. She volunteers primarily for NPAT and in the greenhouse at the Fort Worth Nature Center. Kate is owned by a ranch in Wise County she shares with her husband and a host of animals, domestic and wild. They have just begun a project to return 12 acres of Coastal Bermuda hayfield to native prairie.
