From Dr. Kelly Albus:
I wanted to reach out and let you know about a new BGI-related opportunity coming up in Denton this next year, one that might be a great fit for Elm Fork folks who are interested in education and BGI/water stewardship.
I have a small grant from National Geographic to do student-led water education programs about BGI for schools, and for the pilot program I will be working with Ryan HS here in Denton. I will be training the teachers about BGI at a professional development workshop at the Dallas Center on June 6, and then meeting with them throughout the following school year as the students help plan, design and install a BGI (raingarden) on their school campus to help with flooding during construction.
I would love it if any interested Master Naturalists would be able to attend the workshop on June 6, and also – especially if this could be an approved project to earn hours – maybe they could help throughout the year with the student project as needed?
