Clear Creek – Leave No Trace Spotlight

Clear Creek selected for Leave No Trace Spotlight
Leave No Trace (lnt.org) has selected Clear Creek for their January 2024 Spotlight. These spotlights focus on natural areas deserving of community action to “make a meaningful impact that can revitalize and protect these special places where we recreate, enjoy one another’s company, and elevate our health physically, mentally and emotionally.”
This is a notable and important event that Denton Parks and Recreation has brought to the community thanks to the efforts of Carin Zeman, Outdoor Recreation Coordinator, who offices out of Clear Creek.
The three-day event has one three-hour session each day.
- Thursday, 1/25, 1 – 4pm is the invitation-only workshop, Effective Communication of Leave No Trace. Slots are limited, so sign up now at https://cityofdenton.galaxydigital.com/need/detail/?need_id=890602. This workshop is for people who interact with the public as guides and interpreters and all Master Naturalists are invited. Approved for project-specific AT.
- Friday, 1/26, 1 – 4pm will be a day of stewardship, with trail cleaning and invasives removal, depending on conditions. Service hours will apply here.
- Saturday, 1/27, 9am – 1pm will be an outdoor expo with vendors and organizations tabling to provide information to the community-at-large. EFCTMN will be tabling at this event and volunteers are needed to staff the table. Again, service hours for Outreach will be available for this. To volunteer, let me or Trish Reyes (outreach@efctmn.org) know. Related workshops and activities will also be part of the day.
Events like this are so important to raising awareness and potential for conserving our natural resources as well as highlighting ecotourism around Denton and Denton County.
