Join us for a nature walk in the LBJ National Grassland to discover the first wildflowers of the spring. Sam Kieschnick, Urban Wildlife Biologist, TPWD; Mary Curry, author of North Central Texas Wildflowers; and LBJ NG volunteers will be on hand to lead participants across a large open prairie. This section of Unit 31 has been closed to public vehicles and grazing, allowing regeneration of native grasses and forbs.
Expect a moderate-level hike of up to 2.5 miles, much of it self-paced, across gently hilly meadows. Most of the walking will be off-trail. Dress appropriately for weather. Specific directions will be provided as we get closer to the event. Parking will be along a caliche road, and carpooling is encouraged.
