Friends of LLELA presents “Mindfulness in Texas Nature” with Michael Smith. Meet us on March 14 (Tuesday) at 7 pm at the LLELA educational building, 201 E Jones St, Lewisville, TX 75057 (take your first right after passing the gate house). There is no fee but the gate will close at 7 pm so don’t be late!
“Mindfulness in Texas Nature” starts with a discussion of how time spent in nature benefits our bodies and minds, and how we can be present mindfully in the woods and prairies. Is a mindful walk different from searching for particular species and adding to life-lists on our walks? From there, Michael will share some moments – and photos – from the forthcoming book, Mindful of Texas Nature (Texas A&M U. Press).
Michael Smith is a licensed Psychological Associate (www.MSmithLPA.com) who has always had a strong interest in nature and has interests in ecotherapy and mindfulness in nature. He has particular interest and affection for the LBJ National Grasslands (https://LBJGProject.org). Michael is author or co-author of two books on reptiles and amphibians. He teaches herpetology to Texas Master Naturalists and writes at https://livesinnature.substack.com.
