Gideon Lincecum’s 233rd Birthday!

If you missed the most recent Chapter Program with Gideon’s descendants, David and Mark Lincecum, presenting, here’s your 2nd chance to meet a Lincecum or maybe 100 of them! Mark is the family member who purchased Gideon’s cabin from a B&B where it had been moved to. Then, while looking for property to place the cabin on, through an introduction made by notable past TMN GLC member, Dave Redden, Mark found he could purchase the property to set the cabin 100 yards from its original location! AND, that location just happened to already have the Gideon Lincecum Historical Marker on it. Complete serendipity? Or the universe making it happen? Who knows, but you can see it all along with Gideon’s study, a small log structure with its own marker that is a short walk from the cabin (on a separate person’s property who has given permission).

On Sat, 4/25/2026, at 1pm, Gideon’s birthday will be celebrated by a gathering of Lincecum family members and Gideon enthusiasts at the cabin…and Mark invited us all including whomever you wish to bring! Gideon’s 233rd birthday will be on April 22nd with the barbecue and birthday cake served the following Saturday. It will be a casual affair with plenty of opportunity to meet many Linecums and catch up with fellow TMN GLC members. We will get to tour the 1-room cabin trying to imagine a large family living there. We will also be able to walk over to Gideon’s study! I am sure the Lincecums will enjoy meeting some Master Naturalists who are keeping Gideon’s history at the forefront. See previous celebrations at: https://www.facebook.com/gideonlincecumfamily

This event has been held every 5 years since it started after the cabin was placed at the site, but Mark recently decided to do it more often. But this is NOT an annual event so hope you can make it.

There will be tables and chairs but just in case you may wish to bring your own chair to have it in case you don’t find an open one when you want it.
