This is our first meeting for 2026. We will discuss how often we want to meet. Also we will have updates on our water quality testing and river/shoreline cleanups projects.
VMS opportunity: Watershed and Waterway Protection
For all things water, join the GLC Texas Waters group.
Members are encouraged to complete the online Texas Waters Specialist curriculum independently. The curriculum is nine chapters. If successfully completed, a member may record 1 hour of advanced training per chapter for a total of 9 hours. VMS opportunity: TX Waters Certfication Training.
This group will work together to identify and implement projects for our chapter addressing water issues.
- Currently our chapter supports Adopt-a-Highway, which is an approved Texas Waters Specialist project (where do you think all that trash ends up when it rains?).
- In 2024, we established a chapter water quality testing group in conjunction with the Texas Stream Team to complement existing water quality testing in conjunction with the Lower Colorado River Watch.
- In 2025, we initiated a river cleanup project.
- Two watersheds in our chapter area (Mill Creek in Washington County and Middle Yegua Creek in Lee County) have been identified as impaired watersheds, highlighting the need for water-related education.
