New APCNWR call for help! Big need for two weeks of working on acclimation pens. Help needed Mondays thru Fridays. Construction experience requested but not required. Dates are January 28 through the first week of February. Come for as little as a few hours or every day, all day. Any and all help is greatly appreciated!!
This work is an important part of successful reintroduction and population recovery of the endangered Attwater’s Prairie-Chicken. The pens are used for soft release of captive-bred Attwater’s Prairie-Chickens. Birds spend ~2 weeks in the pens to adjust to the wild prairie habitat before full release. Pens are predator-proof, movable (to prevent disease), and part of ongoing endangered species recovery efforts.
Bert Stipelcovich will make a signup genius for this event so APCNWR staff will know if they have enough help for the daily tasks. The work slots are 7:30 to 11:30 in the morning and 12:30 to 4:30 in the afternoon.
