Volunteer Opportunity: Attwater Prairie Chicken Refuge Workday
>>Record to VMS (including your travel time) as: Attwater Prairie Chicken Refuge: Gideon Lincecum Master Naturalists<<
The Attwater Prairie Chicken Project is in conjunction with the Coastal Prairie Chapter. The effort is led by Jean Stipelcovich from the Coastal Prairie chapter and Jaide Cooper, the wildlife specialist for the reserve, and Krystyna Westfield is the project lead for the Gideon Lincecum chapter.
Bring long sleeves, pants, protective shoes, and leather gloves if you have them (if not we got em!), and hand tools.
If you plan to be a regular participant in this project, please join the #team-attwater Slack Channel for the latest updates. Jaide is a member of the Team-Attwater Slack channel and she posts the planned activity a few days ahead of our Friday work mornings.
Past projects include editing, organizing, constructing pens, observing, planting, collecting, interpreting, and more. There is always something meaningful and important to do and there is something for everyone.
Attwater is a jewel of a refuge that is home to one of the most endangered species on earth. We hope to see you there. Be ready to have some fun!
