Balcones Canyonlands National Wildlife Refuge (BCNWR) will be holding its 2015 Swift Fest in Jonestown on Saturday, August 29, 5:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. The event celebrates the Chimney Swifts of Jonestown as they return to their evening home.  Volunteer opportunities are available to help with the Children’s activities and to staff the Friends of Balcones booth.  Those manning the Friends table will be registering attendees and handing out literature.  There will be two shifts of volunteers needed for this activity with at least 3 volunteers per shift.  At least 2 volunteers will be needed for each of the following children’s activities: 1.  Swift Toss; 2.  Just Swift-y; 3. City Slickers (Urban Bird ID); 4.  Swift Puppets; 5.  Make A Swift; 6.  Whose Dinner Am I; 7.  Avian Antics; 8.  Food For The Brood.  Set up will begin at 4:30 p.m. and take down will commence at 8:00 p.m.
