Volunteer Opportunity, Invasive Plant Removal Project Leader

July 20, 2015 by glennkleinert

In recent meetings with representatives of Wilco Parks and Recreation Department, we have been made aware of the need for a team of volunteers to work on invasive plant removal.  A number of the parks within their systems have problems with invasive plants and there are park personnel available to work with a team dedicated to removal of these plants.  Currently there is a need at Southwest W.C. Regional Park( undeveloped area), the Brushy Creek Regional Trail and the Blackland Heritage Park.  This will be a long term project that will require a team,  and possibly several teams, to work at these parks.  It will be a challenging opportunity for a Project Leader willing to organize and direct this effort.  There is an ongoing invasives removal program at Berry Springs and we do not anticipate this new work will distract volunteers from that project.

If you are interested in taking on the role of Project Leader for this project, and for further information, contact Glenn Kleinert at [email protected] or 512-660-9788
