BCNWR needs volunteers for Swift Fest 8/19/17

July 18, 2017 by vickizardiackas

Balcones Canyonlands National Wildlife Refuge needs your help to make the Kid’s activities during the annual Swift Fest event a success! Please consider volunteering from 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm on Saturday, August 19, 2017 to teach children the wonders of chimney swifts (migratory bird). Or volunteer from 2:30 – 4:00 to help us set up for the Kids activities at Swift Fest.

There will be several educational activity stations and two volunteers are needed to run each station. All materials and training is provided. It’s easy!

We need you! Please sign up to volunteer by emailing jennifer_brown@fws.gov or by logging into your volunteer account here: https://www.friendsofbalcones.org/volunteerRegistration.

The event will be held on Saturday, August 19 from 4:30 – 10:00 pm behind the City of Jonestown’s offices and Fireman’s Park located at 18649 Farm to Market Rd 1431, Jonestown, TX 78645. Google Map directions to the event location can be found here: https://tinyurl.com/y9wt55no (its closer than you think!).

Information on Swift Fest can be found here: http://www.swiftfest-jonestown.com/

Note: The event runs until 10:00 pm. Once the kid’s activities are over at 8:00 pm, you may choose to walk across the street to the giant cistern to watch the swifts drop. It’s super fun!

Feel free to call me at 512-339-9432 with any questions.
