Plant Rescue Opportunity

Posted on March 1, 2018 by Kathy Henderson

Things change, such as open fields changing into developments.   So it is with 45 acres in Pflugerville at Heatherwilde Blvd. and Old Austin Pflugerville Road.  The NPSOT Austin Chapter has organized a plant rescue effort at this location and invited our chapter to partner with them as they strive to save as many of the native plants on the property as possible.

This will be an ongoing project and phase 1 will be this month on the 10th of March and on the 18th of March, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m..  We will have two dates each month until summer.  Then we will resume rescuing in September.  There is parking space along Old Austin Pflugerville Road by EVS Metal.   Bring shovel, containers, closed toe shoes and whatever else you need for personal comfort.  Great chance to get free plants and to protect some of the DNA of natives.
