Dear Volunteers,
As summer begins to get started, are you looking for ways to keep busy? We need YOU to help keep Balcones Canyonlands National Wildlife Refuge in tip-top shape for the visiting public this summer. Spend a little time making the Texas Hill Country a little friendlier for everyone. We are looking for volunteers to fill the following positions:
Visitor Center Greeter – Do you enjoy talking with the public, sitting in an air conditioned visitor center, and helping people? Volunteering in the visitor center could be perfect for you! Position duties involve folding maps, answering phones, light cleaning, and orienting the public to the refuge. We are looking for one volunteer to work at the front desk weekly on Tuesday mornings from 8:00 am – Noon.
Roving Interpreter – Visit the public use areas weekly on the weekend to assist the public. Answer a variety of questions, from trail information to directions to our other public areas. Training will be provided. A friendly disposition and willingness to help is all you’ll need to begin.
If interested contact Jennifer Brown, Visitor Services Manager, by email jennifer_brown@fws.gov or call 512-339-9432 ext. 70.
Gratefully,
Jennifer Brown
