We will be working on Pond Beautification with Juvenile Services on Wed. July 18th 8:30am till noon. Meet at the Tonkawa Pavilion first to sign in and then you will be directed to work on an area of the pond and receive instructions.
Due to the drought, the pond level is down and some of the bank is exposed. Therefore, wear rubber boots. We do have some rubber boots at the park. If you need a pair please let me know. We will be using the water tiller and floating rakes to remove aquatic vegetation. We will be removing exposed branches from the banks of the pond. Fishing line gets caught on branches and water fowl, and aquatic animals get caught in it and or eat it. This is extremely important to remove and dispose of when found. We also, have low branches around the pond that need trimming back. If you want to trim branches, bring loppers to do so. Pick which aspect of the pond beautification you would like to do and let me know.
Bring rubber boots, work gloves, hat, sunscreen, water bottle, insect repellent and what ever else you think you need. We have one other work morning scheduled for this summer, Wed. Aug. 15th 8:30 till noon so mark your calendar.
To sign up, simply respond to this email and let me know you are coming. We need your help and lot’s of hands makes lighter work. Hope you can join us. If you have any ?’s call me. 512-844-4820 is the best way to reach me.
Hope to see you there,
