Dove Hunt Volunteers

August 2, 2018 by mbond

Balcones Canyonlands National Wildlife Refuge has a Dove Hunt September 1 – 4 and we are in need of volunteers to staff the information table.

Our Law Enforcement Officer (game warden) will be onsite and will provide training and information. The hunt takes place on a closed area of the refuge and the volunteers will be provided with a tent for shade and regulation information sheets to give to hunters.

Hunters will use a self check-in system to pay for their permits but will look to you for help with questions. You will not be accepting any money and are there to assist the Law Enforcement Officer in answering hunters’ questions while he is out patrolling the hunt area.

We are looking for two volunteers for each 4 hour shift. Shift one is Noon to 4:00 pm and shift two is 4:00 to 8:00 pm.

Please use your skills to help hunters have a safe and enjoyable time on the refuge.

Sign up by logging into your volunteer account here: https://www.friendsofbalcones.org/Volunteer-Registration (click here) OR you can reply to this email or call me at 512-339-9432 and let me know which shift(s) you are available to help.

Thank you SO much!

Best,

Jennifer Brown
