WHAP: Wildlife Habitat Appraisal Procedure at Georgetown Lake in Georgetown, TX

April 11, 2019 by kateknight

Hello,
My name is Shelby Klein. I am a Biologist for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) in Galveston, TX. USACE will be conducting the Wildlife Habitat Appraisal Procedure (WHAP) on Georgetown Lake, Georgetown, TX on USACE fee property at the end of April. I am reaching out to see if any of your certified naturalists with knowledge of local vegetation would be interested in participating in this survey.
Our field work will begin Monday April 22nd around lunch time and we will work throughout that week until we complete the surveys. We expect to be done no later than Friday April 26th. We will conduct few plots as a larger group before disbursing the smaller teams to their predetermined points. We currently have four teams of four USACE employees, each with a team leader. If someone in your organization is interested in participating, I can add them to the existing teams.
We are using the WHAP to address topics/issues for our upcoming Georgetown Master Plan revision. The Master Plan addresses environmentally sensitive areas, wildlife management areas, vegetative management areas, high recreation areas, etc. on Corps property. Essentially, we are using the WHAP to get a snap shot of our existing conditions so we can plan out future management in the Master Plan revision.
I can be contacted by phone at 409-166-3824 or by email at [email protected]
Respectfully,
Shelby Klein
