Balcones Canyonlands NWR: Teach Fishing to Lago Vista Elementary Kids

May 9, 2019 by kateknight

Did you know that Balcones Canyonlands National Wildlife Refuge partners with Lago Vista Elementary each year to teach the entire school (350+ students) how to cast a fishing pole? Students are divided into small groups and learn to cast a fishing pole with plastic fish, no water needed.

Even if you aren’t a fisherman or fisherwoman, casting is easy and fun. We’ll teach you before the students arrive so you can help them enjoy this timeless outdoor recreational activity.

What: Backyard Bass Day at Lago Vista Elementary
Where: 20311 Dawn Drive Lago Vista
When: Tuesday, May 21 from 7:45 am – 12:15 pm
Why: Teach our local school kids how to cast so they can enjoy fishing

Thank you!

Gratefully,

Jennifer Brown
