Free Community Event and Open House at Deer Park Prairie, with Guided Prairie Tours in the morning and evening, native plant and local wildlife activities, and mothing with the Moth Posse after dark!
Deer Park Prairie (DPP) is an ecological preserve & one of the most biodiverse, remnant coastal-tallgrass-prairies remaining in Texas!
Join staff and volunteers from the Houston Chapter of Native Prairies Association of Texas to visit this rare conservation site, and learn more about the native plants and wildlife that call this prairie home. Events will begin early in the morning with prairie hikes, and continue after sunset with mothing.
Highlights:
- Guided Hikes: 8:30 am, 11:00 am, & 6:30 pm
- Drop in anytime during the event and Master Naturalists will show you the prairie!
- Citizen Science BioBlitz
- Mothing after dark – 8:30-10:30 pm
