Event Description:
Join us for a how-to educational program on pond stocking as we cover the basics of fish genetics avaiable for pond stocking and how stocking the proper genetics will help you reach your specific management goals. Up until the last 20-25 years, stocking options for ponds were largely limited to what the local fish supplier had available. This often meant only local or regional species or strains were available for pond stocking. Today, there are many options of species, strains, and hybrids, and the genetics you stock into your pond can influence fishing for decades to come. In this webinar we will cover which largemouth bass genetics are right for your specific fishing goals, differences in catfish species available for stocking and what are the benefits of each species, hybrids (hybrid striped bass, hybrid sunfish, hybrid catfish), how and when to use each hybrid, and what each hybrid type means for your fish population, crappie species, strains, and hybrids, and different strains of bluegill.
