Event Summary:
Docent Training Program for New Volunteers at the Wildflower Center
Event Description:
Once every two years we offer our complete docent training program to onboard new volunteers to this special program (and for everyone to brush up and share knowledge and techniques). If you love people, plants, answering questions, sharing facts and spending time outdoors at the Wildflower Center, join us! Docents are some of our most specialized volunteers at the Wildflower Center. Read more below to see if this sounds like a good fit for you!
Our docents are trained volunteers whose primary responsibility is to interpret the Wildflower Center for our visitors. They guide tours, host stations for school groups, give talks, serve at information stations, and answer questions throughout our grounds and gardens. Docents are the ambassadors for the Wildflower Center mission: Inspiring the conservation of native plants.
The four-class series will take place on four Saturdays in January and February from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.:
Jan. 22, Jan. 29, Feb. 5 & Feb. 12
Note: Service as a volunteer for the Wildflower Center is not an approved project for our ChapterĀ as it is physically outside of our ecoregion. However, this docent training would provide excellent training for tour group leaders in Texas State Parks and other approved projects.
Cost: $100.00 form members, $150.00 for non-members
