Comments: AT22-207 Putting STEM Knowledge to Work in the Garden, NPSOT Kerrville, Presenter: Dinah Zike (AT=1.5h)
Event Date: 4/12/2022
Event Time: 10:00a-12:00p
Event Summary:
A NPSOT members-only tour and presentation.
Event Description:
Dinah Zike has designed Carbon Sinks in her STEM gardens in Comfort. She buried recyclable materials so that instead of being placed into the trash, were buried to properly deteriorate. She has planted her gardens on top, largely natives, and they thrive and are considered a vermiculture site with literally thousands of earthworms under your feet! Zike applies a rotation method of cover and open over the plants, ensuring a continued source of sustenance for pollinators.
This is the NPSOT monthly meeting, but is being held in Comfort instead of our usual location. We will have a presentation and garden tour to see how it works first hand.
Because of limited parking, reservations are required and it is only available to NPSOT Kerrville members. Please find the reservation link on the email that was mailed out to members. The location will be provided before the event to those who have registered.
Cost: no charge
