Event Summary:
Consider everything in this native environment that we are trying to protect. We focus on the plants. However, this environment is so much more. Without the wildlife (which includes insects ) we don’t have the birds, or seeds for next spring.
Event Description:
At the foundation of this well-spring are the pollinators. Not all our pollinators are native insects. Sue Blackwell, is our speaker this month. Her deep interest is the intricacy of the social structure in a honeybee hive and the importance of honeybees to the environment. Everything that the hive produces is useful.
The owner of Green Life – an interior plant and design business in the San Antonio and Austin areas – as well as the vice president of the Kerrville Beekeeping Club, Sue is completing the final level of the Master Beekeeping program at the University of Montana. She provides bees in three counties for agriculture exemptions.
