Webinar Time: 12:00p-1:00p
Webinar Summary:
Learn how Big Bend is being conserved.
Webinar Description:
The Greater Big Bend Region is world-renowned for its expansive landscapes, ranching heritage, dark skies, wildlife diversity, and iconic communities. Recently the region has begun experiencing unprecedented pressures, as it has been discovered as prime real estate for energy development. While the continued development of the Permian and Delaware basins are relatively well-known, many do not realize that far west Texas is also extremely well poised to see expansive wind and solar development, and many areas have been, and continue to be impacted by these activities.
A coalition of land managers, conservationists, energy leaders, and communication specialists recently assembled to address the energy sprawl in the Greater Big Bend Region. Using the moniker Respect Big Bend, coalition partners include Borderlands Research Institute, Bureau of Economic Geology, Cynthia and George Mitchell Foundation, Texas Agricultural Land Trust, Hudson Pacific, The Nature Conservancy, and others.
