Event Date: 2/26/2023
Event Time: 1:00p-4:00p
Event Summary:
Deep Dive, Hands-On Science
Event Description:
Humans alter the environment in many ways – these changes often favor invasive plants and animals, putting our native species at risk. The global expansion of human-altered landscapes leaves scientists with an important question: how do we tip the balance back to favor and preserve native species?
Join Dr. Jennifer Lau, Professor of Biology at Indiana University Bloomington, to learn how scientists and conservationists can harness the power of plant evolution and the adaptive power of soil microbes to restore native populations that are best suited to their rapidly changing environments. This all-ages science talk and interactive event will allow guests to learn about cutting-edge research while exploring the efforts of local researchers and conservation organizations.
Interactive Tabling Session: 1:00 – 2:00 p.m.
Talk: 2:00 – 3:00 p.m.
Cost: This event is free with the cost of general admission and part of UT’s Texas Science Festival. Get more info and register at sciencefest.utexas.edu.
