We will view “Urban and Suburban Meadows”, a documentary film by the Meadow Project, and will follow it with a discussion.
Event Description:
The 60-minute video is formatted to be screened in one sitting. It features meadow experts Michael Nadeau, Larry Weaner and Neil Diboll, who walk the viewer through meadow site preparation, design, planting and maintenance. In the chapter, Why Native Plants, entomologist, Doug Tallamy, author of Bringing Nature Home, explains the intricate connection between native plants, native insects and the soil food web.
Maya Christeson and Becky Leal have put in a meadow here in Kerrville. Both are NPSOT Kerrville members. Becky is also HCMN and HCMG. Maya and Becky will introduce the video and lead the discussion and Q&A afterwards.
This is the second in a NPSOT Kerrville series on native plants which will be held at our local library. The NPSOT library programs series will alternate with the Master Gardeners every other month and all throughout the summer on the second Saturday of the month. (Today’s is on the fourth.)
