As habitat along the I-35 corridor continues to shrink by the day, can overwintering sparrows and resident and migrant Loggerhead Shrikes hold on?
Event Description:
For the past three years, the Texas Nature Trackers program has been examining three Species of Greatest Conservation Need, the LeConte’s and Grasshopper Sparrows, and the Loggerhead Shrike. During this presentation, you’ll be provided with a glimpse of the challenges faced by these birds as well as a look into their lives in our ever-changing landscape.
Craig Hensley is one of two Texas Nature Trackers Biologists for the Community Stewardship and Engagement Program with TPWD’s Diversity Program. He has worked in this program for the past three years, having also served as a Wildlife Biologist for Kendall and Comal Counties as well as the Park Interpreter and Resource Specialist for Guadalupe River State Park and Honey Creek State Natural Area. He has degrees in Fisheries and Wildlife Management (BS) and Zoology (MS)
