Event Summary:
Learn how to use native plants to support robust ecosystems and provide habitats for birds, butterflies, bees and more in your garden. In this series, discover how ground cover, water features and lighting affect livability for wildlife.
Event Description:
This is a four-part series which will take place on Sundays: 9/10, 9/17, 9/24, 10/1, 2:00p – 4:00 p.m. each day via Zoom.
Also, there will be two optional morning field trips, one on 10/8 and the other date TBD; locations TBD but will be local to Austin.
All levels of gardeners welcome. No prior experience necessary.
Registration is limited to 35 people. Cost for the course is $60 for Travis Audubon Society members and $75 for non-members. Registrants will receive an email with the link for the Zoom meeting prior to the event.
NOTE: The email used to register for this walk will be used to communicate any changes or cancellations due to weather or other factors. Please ALWAYS check your email inbox on the morning of the walk, prior to leaving your home, in case of last-minute changes in the trip plan. Please also check to be sure our emails do not land in your spam folder. When in doubt, please call or email your trip leader. We encourage participants to put the leader’s email address in their safe sender list.
Payment for a class, workshop, or other fee-based event is due at the time of registration. If payment is not received within a week of registration, the registrant may be dropped from the roster. To withdraw from a class, workshop, or other fee-based event, please contact the Travis Audubon office: :5123002473 or info@travisaudubon.org.
If a registrant withdraws from a class, workshop, or other fee-based event at least seven (7) days before the first session, Travis Audubon will offer a full refund less a $5.00 administrative fee that helps defray our costs. If the registrant withdraws less than seven (7) days before the first session, no refund will be made. If Travis Audubon cancels the class, workshop, or other fee-based event, we will fully refund the tuition
About the presenter: Ryan Fleming is an ecological landscape designer and consultant who has been working with native plants for over thirty years. Ryan specializes in native plant designs focused on wildlife habitats including pollinators, birds and other native wildlife. A passionate teacher, with a strong educational background in biology with a concentration on native wildlife and ecology, Ryan volunteers with local environmental entities, and has served as a member of the City of Austin Urban Forestry Board for 8 years.
