Everyone thinks they can plant a new tree; few know how to do it correctly. Professionals are usually the worst. Containerized trees present many challenges with getting them started the right way. This presentation will discuss those challenges and how to correct them at planting. It will also identify how to prune or not prune a new tree to get it through the first 25 years.
Mr. David Vaughan is owner and consulting arborist of ArborVaughan Consult, LLC. He received a Master of Agriculture in Natural Resources Development from Texas A&M University in 1977, preceded by a Bachelor of Science in Forestry from Stephen F. Austin University in 1971. Mr. Vaughan is among the first group of twenty arborists certified in Texas and is a member of the American Society of Consulting Arborists. He has been an arborist in San Antonio since 1978, is Texas Oak Wilt certified, and was selected as the 2022-2023 Texas Arborist of Year. Mr. Vaughan is currently serving on the Board of Directors for Alamo Forest Partnership, Bexar Branches Alliance, and San Antonio Arborist Association.
