Event Summary:
Learn the criteria for the Texas Parks and Wildlife’s Community Outdoor Outreach Program (CO-OP) and how Grants are awarded.

Event Description:

Life is better outside! The Texas Parks and Wildlife’s Community Outdoor Outreach Program (CO-OP) grant provides $5,000- $100,000 in competitive grant awards to organizations that engage underrepresented audiences in outdoor recreation, environmental education, and conservation, in direct partnership with TPWD sites, programs, and resources. CO-OP grant recipients are as diverse as the communities in Texas they serve and must be a non-profit organization. They include conservation groups, nature centers, summer camps, churches, school districts, health/social service organizations, and municipalities. The next CO-OP grant application cycle opens August 1, 2024, and closes November 1st , 2024 at 5pm CST for program funds awarded March 1, 2025. Interested applicants are encouraged to attend a free grant writing workshop to best support a well-crafted project application, offered around the state each summer.

The Community Outdoor Outreach Program (CO-OP) grant provides funding to tax-exempt organizations for programming that engages under-served populations in TPWD mission-oriented outdoor recreation, conservation and environmental education activities.

Who We Fund
Grants are available to tax-exempt organizations such as local government, Universities, school districts and non-profit organizations. This program builds relationships with constituencies who have been under-represented in Texas Parks & Wildlife Department activities and programs. Target audiences served include low income, ethnic minority, female and individuals with a disability.

What We Fund
CO-OP provides grants to tax- exempt organizations ranging from $5,000 to $100,000. This is a reimbursement grant program. Recipients must purchase eligible items and submit proper documentation before being reimbursed. Eligible organizations can apply to use these funds for programming expenses such as personnel, food, travel expenses, participant liability insurance, entrance fees, outdoor recreation equipment and environmental education supplies.

When We Fund
CO-OP grants are funded annually following the application deadline of November 1st each year.
