Event Summary: Learn how provide Water for the Wildlife you share your land with.
Event Description: Hot Texas Summers are hard on wildlife of all species, especially during years of below average rainfall.
Join us for Water Wednesdays, an 1.5 hour educational program on what you can do as a land or home owner to provide water for wildlife. There will be a question and answer period at the end of the webinar. Dr. Jacob Dykes is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Rangeland, Wildlife, and Fisheries Management at Texas A&M University and a Wildlife Specialist for Texas A&M
AgriLife Extension. His research focuses on the ecology and management of large mammal species such as white-tailed deer, feral hogs, nilgai, domestic cattle, and javelina. As a researcher, he has authored numerous peer-reviewed journal articles while working in a diversity of landscapes, from the southeastern United States to South Texas. His extension work includes >75 oral presentations, popular
articles, YouTube videos, podcasts, and radio broadcasts aimed at wildlife conservation and management education.
Jacob received his B.S. and M.S. in Wildlife, Fisheries, and Aquaculture from Mississippi State University and his Ph.D. in
Wildlife Sciences from the Caesar Kleberg Wildlife Research Institute at Texas A&M University–Kingsville. He has
received various awards including an “Outstanding Extension Communication Award” from the Mississippi State
University Extension Service and a “Presenters Award” from the Southeast Deer Study group.
Jacob is an avid outdoorsman who spends his free time hunting, fishing, trapping, and camping. From elk hunting out
west to fishing for redfish along the Texas coast, Jacob’s passion is the outdoors.
