Event Summary: The beloved Texas Horned Lizard has become hard to find. Come and learn how TPWD and private land owners are trying to help them come back, and what you can do to help our favorite Texas critter.
Event Description: Join the Friends of Fredericksburg Nature Center and learn about the Texas Horned Lizard, their needed habitat and how many are trying to help them have a comeback in Texas.TPWD Biologist Nathan Rains will present on the efforts to get the population numbers of the horned lizard to increase, and how you can help.
Nathan Rains is a Regional Wildlife Diversity Biologist for the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. He obtained a B.S. degree in Wildlife Biology in 1994 from Texas A&M University, and a M.S. degree in Wildlife Biology in 1998 from Louisiana State University. Upon graduation, Nathan began his employment with the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries as a wildlife biologist. From 2000 to 2008, he worked as a Private Lands Biologist
with the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, and from 2008 to present he has served as a TPWD Regional Wildlife Diversity Biologist, working primarily with threatened and endangered species as well as species of greatest conservation needs. Rains also specializes in research and conservations of reptiles.
