Event Description: Join us for an exciting guided herpetology walk and talk with naturalist, Tony Gallucci. This event will offer a unique opportunity to learn about the rich herpetological diversity in Gillespie County, understand their ecosystems, and gain insight into the life of these remarkable amphibians and reptiles. We will also learn about what we can do to help conserve these essential animals. This event is part of a larger Fall BioBlitz at UBarU Camp and Retreat Center which runs 10/4/24 4pm until 10/6/24 4pm.
1600 Afternoon walk to look for lizards and snakes

1800 Dinner (food provided or bring your own)
1900 Sunset walk to look for snakes and amphibians
Tony Gallucci has resided for long periods in the Rio Grande Valley, Big Bend, deep East Texas and the Hill Country, and has been in the Kerrville area since 1986. Tony is a graduate of Texas A&M University where he did doctoral research on nesting Black Rails on the upper Texas coast. His Master’s research centered on the Upper Big Bend race of the White-winged Dove. He has worked for four decades compiling the fauna and flora of three Texas counties: Kerr, Real and Trinity. He works as a media specialist and teaches film and theatre for the Hill Country Youth Ranch System which includes the Big Springs Ranch for Children where he will lead Nature Quest field trips.
Dinner will be provided (donations to help cover costs appreciated) or bring your own. Refrigerators and a microwave are available. Coffee, iced tea, and water available for all.
