Do you enjoy watching birds in your own backyard? Do you find birds interesting and beautiful? Would you like to move beyond casual birding and develop more expertise in looking at birds, categorizing birds, and recognizing common birds—and perhaps even develop bird watching into an engaging hobby?
If so, then this class is for you!
Join us for Introduction to Birding, where you’ll discover how to refine your birdwatching skills and enhance your understanding of these fascinating creatures. This class will prepare you for fieldwork by teaching you what to observe and how to use essential birding tools effectively.
Learn tools, tips, and techniques from avid Audubon birders and Alamo Chapter Texas Master Naturalists, Tom and Patsy Inglet, that will allow you to build your birding skills. From how to find birds to the tools and clues that will help you identify them, this workshop will provide the information and field practice that you need to help you get started in birding.
Program: 2 hours of instruction followed by 1 hour of guided field practice
Bring: Binoculars and a Bird Field Guide, if you have them.
Dress: Long pants, dull colors, walking shoes, and a hat. Insect repellent and sunscreen are encouraged.

The Presenters Patsy & Tom are:
Texas Master Naturalists (Class 8) in the Alamo Chapter. Tom and Patsy have both earned the 10,000-hour pin for their volunteer work. They teach the Bird Class for the Alamo Area and Lindheimer Chapters.
Active members of Bexar Audubon Society (Patsy is on the board and is the current Education & Engagement Chair).
Supporters of National Audubon Society (NAS), Texas Ornithological Society (TOS), American Bird Conservancy (ABC), American Birding Association (ABA), and Cornell Lab of Ornithology (CLO)—all organizations with a focus on birds and their conservation.
Re-connecting people of all ages with nature, via birds, and helping to conserve our natural habitats for the benefit of both birds and people have become top priorities for Patsy and Tom
