with a hike in ABKSNA from 12:30 pm to 3:00pm. We will work through lunch (attendee to provide lunch)
Event Description:
Learn to read the geologic history of the Hill Country. How did the rock types we see today form? Why are certain fossils only found at certain elevations in a formation? Why are some hills steep while others are stair-stepped? Why is karst topography so prevalent? How does what Happened 100 million years ago affect the way people interact with the natural landscape of today? How does this affect soil types and land planning?:
To understand these questions a basic understanding of geology is needed. This workshop will give you the knowledge to answer these questions. From 9:00am to 12:00pm we will be in the main building at ABKSNA discussing a power point presentation and observing rock and fossil samples. If you plan to stay for the hike in the natural area, please bring your lunch to eat from 12:00 to 12:30pm. We will then hike and observe the landforms in ABKSNA. Please wear hard-toed shoes and bring a water bottle.
