Event Summary: Monarch butterflies are amazing, and need our help. Actively participate in monarch butterfly conservation through observation, data collection and
biology.

Event Description: It has been several years since we have been able to present this workshop, and we are happy to be able to bring it back.   Did you miss seeing the migrating monarchs this year? Come and learn how you can help these endangered butterflies through Citizen Science programs as we look at the history, habitat needs, health and migration. After the training, attendees will be ready to join a Monarch Larva Monitoring Project site with the Chapter, or establish one on their property.

All training materials will be supplied. Bring a pen and notebook.

Carla Stang, Sarah Hilburn and Barb Jansen have 25 years of combined experience in monarch butterfly sciences. Sarah and Barb are both professional teachers, involved with teaching children and adults at the Old Tunnel State Park in Fredericksburg, and the Texas Tech Outdoor School in Junction. Barb is also on the faculty at the University of Texas, Austin.
Carla is a trained military nurse, with many years experience working with her charges. She has served as the class director, President and the Membership Director for the Texas Master Naturalists, Hill Country Chapter. They all have extensive knowledge of monarch butterflies, and the Citizen Science programs to study and help the monarchs.
Other monarch volunteers will be on hand to help with the training.

Cost: Free. Bring Lunch, will work through lunch.   Donations are appreciated.
