Event Description: UBarU is conducting a bioblitz April 25-27 and as part of that event Mark McClelland will give a presentation on “Birds of the Texas Hill Country and Native Plants that Attract Them” followed by an observational walk around UBarU.
More info on the talk: The Texas Hill Country is home to about 350 different species of birds. Some are common year-round residents, while others only stay for a few days, weeks, or months. We’ll talk about some of the common species along with a few of the more exotic. All rely on plants for food, shelter, and nesting. We will look at the many advantages of native plants in the landscape, how they help to feed and attract our amazing birds, and which ones to consider planting to get the most bang for your buck!
