We will survey the riparian plants along Bessie’s Creek above the pond on Saturday June 17. This part of the Creek is in a wide canyon through which the Creek, shallow and narrow, meanders and flows intermittently. There is lush growth with abundant, diverse, mature hardwoods. There is also an abundant, diverse insect population.
We need to leave promptly at 8:00 a.m. given the heat and humidity which ramps up by 11:00. Getting into and out of the basin requires elevation loss and gain, some of which is through juniper and briar.
Dress appropriately. Bring plenty of water and repellant.
