This is intended to give a brief overview of the protocol used in the Prairie Vegetation Survey and to introduce the target species that are evaluated in the survey based on season. Participants will learn the characteristics of the plant species expected to be encountered and will learn identification tips and tricks. An interest in prairie plants to include – grass, forbs, and woody species.
Appropriate attire is highly recommended (e.g. closed toed shoes/boots/long pants/hat).
It strongly recommended to begin hydrating before going out into field, starting a day before is a good idea. As all are aware, temperatures are in record high territory and while we hope for cooler temperatures for this week, the expectation is it will still be very hot for the season. It is a requirement that all must bring own water bottle/hydration pack for use while out in the field.
