Plant enthusiasts and beginners alike survey several transects in the prairie to determine vegetation type, including forbs and grasses, and to assess ground cover. Using this data, researchers can assess changes in plant composition over time.
Requirements: None, however, this survey requires bending and stooping on sometimes uneven terrain. There is exposure to sun, wind, sometimes rain, and potential for insect bites. You will be walking through the prairie so appropriate attire is required (e.g. closed toed shoes/boots/long pants/hat). It is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED that participants attend the Prairie Vegetation Review that occurs on Wednesday, October 9th from 9a-12p.
Date: October 10th- 8am-12pm
