Pete Van Dyck is the owner of Van Dyck Earthworks & Design LLC which specializes in regenerative land design and installation for farmers, ranchers, homesteaders and conservationist landowners. He started this journey after attending a permaculture design course in 2014 and volunteering at local permaculture events. Pete realized there was an open Niche in the community for a soil and water conservation minded heavy equipment operations business. He used his G.I Bill to attend a professional heavy equipment operations training course and used this training to create start the business in 2015. Since then, Pete has worked all over Texas for private landowners and conserving our natural resources. In 2017 he won the EPA region 6 green infrastructure and low impact development competition. Region 6 is a five-state region and he competed against city planners, architects, engineers, and biologists. His work was featured in the Texas Living Waters land management guidebook in 2018 as the best bet for the future of Texas water. Pete has worked on contracts with City of Austin and Travis County Balcones Canyonland Preserves doing conservation work on endangered species habitat since 2019. Furthermore, with the presentation you are about to see, he was able to influence the Edwards Aquifer Authority to create an entirely new Field Research Park in San Antonio that focuses on studying the effects of soil and water conservation on the aquifer. This research has never been done before and has the potential to change the paradigms and policy of Texas Water.
